Wow...What a start to 2012!!!

What a crazy weekend it's been!! Friday night, we were out gigging at Nottingham University Vets Ball for one of the biggest events they've ever had at the University Conference Centre! The crowd were out of this world!! From the opening chords of 'Greatest Day' through to an impromptu performance of the Baywatch Theme at the end of the set, they sang every word with us!! Thanks also to the University Tec team who built our stage, lighting rig and PA!! You guys do great work and we hope to work with you again soon!!

Saturday was equally amazing, in a completely different way!! We had the pleasure of entertaining, singing with and dancing with an amazing bunch of people at 'The Cherubs Ball', a black tie event, hosted by Des 'The Weatherman' Coleman to raise funds for the fantastic Rutland House, School For Parents!!

Many of you know that one of my passions is Football and I manage, on a Saturday, a local youth football team. One of the lads in my squad has a little brother called Logan who has Cerebral Palsy! He's one of the coolest kids I know and is always smiling and having a laugh. So many things that we take for granted, being able to walk freely, communicate easily, stand up without assistance, he can't easily do, but, even in the relatively short time that I've had the pleasure of knowing him, he's come on leaps and bounds in all of those things!!

I've no doubt that much of that development is down to to his sheer determination and that of his parents' Caroline and Ant, but I'm equally sure that the assistance, encouragement and support that they've received from Rutland House has played a massive part in it!!

The event on Saturday raised over £22,000!!! That's an incredible amount!!! We get to play some great gigs, occasionally to 10,000+ people, but there's something special about being able to make our small contribution to events that do so much good in people's lives!! We've received loads of Facebook comments, likes, emails, text and thankyou's regarding our performance the other night and as grateful as we are for them, they're misguided!! We simply turned up, played a some songs and had a great night; the real heroes are the trustees, staff, volunteers, parents and children at that place!! The work they do TOGETHER, is more inspiring to folk like me and the lads than they'll ever know!! Rather than tell you about it, just watch the video above!! I'm sure you'll get exactly what I mean!!

Keep doing what you do guys and I'm sure we'll see you again some time soon!!

MARSH....on behalf of the lads!!

The Summer Ball.......why?

Well hopefully you now know that we're holding a 'Summer Ball' at the Village Hall in Papplewick this year. We've chosen not to be involved with 'Party In The Park' this year for a number of reasons, primarily the lack of support and negativity that we received from Notts Police Licensing and Ashfield District Council Licensing last year. The cause 'Help For Heroes' will always be close to Phil & Ben's heart especially as, as many of you know, they lost their mate Paul Sandford on the front line in combat...hence Party In The Park being launched!! Please don't for a minute think that we're not going to be fundraising for Help For Heroes in future! That isn't the case! We've just decided to call time on that particular event....We have something up our sleeve for October!!

We guess that the 'Summer Ball' will become a direct replacement for us to focus our time and efforts on!! As a band, we've lost too many friends in recent years to the disease that is Cancer, in all forms, and we decided that we wanted to do something, our bit to help the battle against the cause!! All the profits it makes will go to Cancer Reseach, a fantastic charity that distributes funds to legimate organisations and groups fighting to find a cure for Cancer!!

"I know from current experience that it's a helpless feeling watching someone die in front of you. There's nothing you can do. What we can do however is play our part in the wider battle against it and that's what this event is about!! We hope people will share the vision and get behind it in the same way that they have done other things like Party In The Park." B Marshall

Ben and Danny (Road Manager) are also involved in a trip from Lands End to John O'Groats this Summer as part of the Road Team. You can check out info of that at www.endtoend2012.co.uk

Hopefully you share our vision and will feel able to support this event, so please get your tickets ordered as soon as they go on sale! It WILL be an awesome evening you really don't want to miss!!

As for 'Ladies Night', an event for the same cause, we're working on a way to make it happen. There's major changes afoot at Rolls Royce in Hucknall which means it's unlikely that we'll be holding events there in the future so please bare with us!!

As ever, thanks for being such a massive part of what we do as a band!! Without you guys, there'd be no point!! See you at a gig soon.....The Band!!! x

New Years Eve

THANKYOU.......

That's all we can say to the 180 of you guys that came out to celebrate the New Year 2012 with us at Papplewick the other night!!

We've played some pretty amazing gigs at some pretty amazing venues over the last couple of years but this was genuinely one of the best crowds we've played to ever....

Myself and Phil both agreed afterwards that we've never seen a dance floor so full for 2 consecutive hours! You guys were amazing!!

A massive thanks also to the team of people that helped to make the night the success that it was; Ben Stewart, Kat Barrett, Kathryn & Paul Holmes and their team, Two Counties Hog Roast (We recommend them), Julie Wain, Cheryl Oglesby, Matt Tongue, Brainz & Emma... you all went above and beyond the call of duty, so thank you!!

Hopefully you enjoyed a few of the new tunes we put in the set. We're working on 8 new ones for 2012 and can't wait to get gigging again with Nick back on Bass and Kaine on Guitar!!

We've already booked Papplewick Hall again for next New Year and tickets will go on sale at the beginning of October so if you're one of the 250+ that tried to get tickets after it had sold out, make sure you get in early this time!! We'd love to see you there!!

On behalf of myself, Phil and the band...thankyou for such a memorable night! NYE doesn't get much better than that for us!!

God bless you in 2012!!  Marsh x

All Change!!

We're delighted that in 2012, we'll be welcoming back to the band, our great friend and original bass player, Nick Wright!!

Nick's return will also free Kaine up to make the switch to rhythm guitar, a role that has remained vacant since the departure of Adam Cable in June '11.

"It's great to have Nick back with us!! He's a great friend of all of us and we've definitely missed having him around!! I'm sure the ladies will be pleased to have him back too!!"

Nick will be gigging with the band again as of January 2012!!

2 Years Old - What a birthday!!

Well, we're now officially two years old!! It doesn't seem like two minutes ago that we trod the boards at that wet Bonfire gig in Papplewick near our home town of Hucknall!!

It is genuinely humbling to think that two years on we've played to over 40,000 people at venues like the Nottingham Capital FM Arena, the Royal Concert Hall, The Forest and loads of other amazing places!

Perhaps the thing that gives us most pride is the money we've been able to raise for some amazing causes like SHINE, Nottingham Cystic Fibrosis Trust, Help For Heroes and such. That said, we know that if it wasn't for your generous support and willingness to come out and dance and sing with us, there's no way we could have done that!

Also, we'd like to thank Mark 'Brainz' Hitchings for his help since we started!! Twiggy, Emma, Nicci, Mal, The Thunders, Alex, Matt, you too have all played a great part in giving us the chance to be able to do what we've done so please accept our heartfelt thanks!!

It's also been great to welcome Andrew and Kaine into the band! Obviously when we knew Josh and Nick were pursuing some other musical interests we were naturally gutted but in Kaine and Andrew we've found not only great replacements but great friends too!!

Adam, Nick and Josh, you guys played a massive part in creating what we are now and that will never be forgotten!! I'm sure we'll remain friends for many years and I'm sure one day we'll do what we do best together again! You never know.

Finally, thank you to you! The guys that pay their money to come and see us! We value your support more than you'll ever know!! There's not a gig that we do where we don't look out and see some familiar faces and that's what keeps us going when we're playing freezing outdoor gigs in the middle of December!!

We never set out to be cool! We set out to enjoy our music and entertain people and as long as we keep doing that, we'll keep going!! Here's to the next two years!!

Phil, Ben & The Band!!

Christmas Lights & Bonfire Night

We're delighted to announce that once again we'll be playing our two home gigs at Hucknall Christmas Lights Switch On and Papplewick Bonfire this year!! We're really excited about Hucknall as it's the first time that we'll have been back on stage with our great friends Twiggy & Emma since our partnership with Trent FM ended last year due to the station being rebranded as Capital FM!!

It'd be great to see as many of you as possible there for what should be a cracking gig!!

Love Phil, Ben and the Guys!!
